I once had a negative comment in a review in the Washington Post that brought more people in to see what had upset the critic, the gallery said it got people’s attention. It was otherwise a bland review.

Wonderful stories and tips! Who'd have thought of asking a negative reviewer for a studio visit??? Not me. I'd be more likely to run as far as possible, so this is truly food for thought. Thanks.

Really good, really smart, Ann. This applies to writers too. And you can smell a critic who's just showing off a mile away. I love the painting of Paul's you showed. I hadn't seen his work for a while, and this one is vibrant and complex--I really like it!
