Bless your heart, Ann, for being willing to start your day with a commitment to stay updated and informed on the latest news from The Regime.

I had a quick catch up, thanks to you, and by ending your overview of the latest with the news about Cheeto's dream to be forever in our view, in stone of all things, is perfect! I laughed, and laughed and laughed - through the tears of recognition of the horror some people just love to spread around. Including taking our country down.

The double speak he and his brown shirts (read shit shirts) employ, straight out of 1984, or is it the Psy Ops manual (page 42, paragraph 3 is it?) or perhaps Mein Kampf (?)really clarifies all things fascist in this Regime.

I applaud you and so very much appreciate you - your writing and your clear sense of decency, as well as your sense of humor. So very, very important in these days of catastrophic challenge, is laughter. Along with creating (make more art!) it is one of the best energetic actions that pushes back against this wave of hatred, (and those who are spreading it in hopes of creating a despair that shuts down resistance). It is one of the many, many tools in our box of resistant actions and a clear call of "Oh hell no!" It deactivates sadistic narcissism - he simply can't stand being laughed at, nor can his side kick Elon the Insane. May soon become dangerous to even do that, but, until then... if ever.

I will not ever give up or give in to this attack on America - by Americans? (or is it fascists who gave away their right to be called Americans ?) It isn't the first time Americans have tried to eat their own (or ship 'em off somewhere). Let's hope the changes so long needed will now, finally, evolve into liberty and justice for all. All eyes will be opened. All hearts as well.

In the meantime I will continue to read your wonderful blog, full of wonderful insights - learn, laugh, make, and survive. I am sending out energy to those already horrifically effected by this Regime. And stand in strength of conviction to weather this evolution / revolution.

Oh, and thanks for the link to Chop Wood/Carry Water. I'll check in on the latest and make plans accordingly.

Take care of you! xo

i'd like to know more about what Hitler actually did to artists, museums and dealers that didn't support his aesthetics. Now that Trump is freely replacing generals, he is paving the way for a military coup that keeps him in power after his constitutionally allowed two terms in office. Am I being too alarmist? I hope so, but, frankly, I fear it CAN happen here. Knowing more about Hitler and art might teach me more about how to watch for warning signs. Just a thought.....

I will have to do some more serious research beyond Googling Let me see what's out there. The one book I found on the subject, by Henry Grosshans, is out of print. As you probably know, Hitler was himself a failed artist who couldn't pass the exams for the academy when he was a student.

It's an interesting subject. I'll see what I can find out, perhaps for next week.

I want you to stay addicted. This country needs highly intelligent people to pay attention.

Don't fall into the trap of addicted or not. Follow yourself and do what calls you. Why not?

It's okay to watch too much news. Maybe it's necessary. You earned your take on things,

including doing things that people say you should not do. Too much, too little? That sounds like a rule. Carry on

As BAD as Hitler was he had a purpose and knew what he was doing, Trump's only purpose is trump and More trump.

It IS a reign of terror, and I admit to feeling personally threatened, just for being female. My question: will his insanity go so far that we’ll never be able to go back to what we Americans had come to see as “normal”? I fear for my granddaughters.

I think we're all too "woke" to let this insanity continue for much longer. It may be small potatoes, but I just read this morning that Kennedy Center ticket sales are down 60 percent and the place can't exist on federal funding alone. There are also angry town hall meetings all over the country. Remember: Don't buy anything on Friday! xxA

An excellent post! Thanks Ann for doing the research and keeping artists informed during Con Don's reign of terror. Hopefully Con Don and MuskRAT will go into the ashcan of history sooner than later. It's hard to believe this is the USA.

To continue to make work - that is paramount - that is my job - material culture. Ride the wave. I have yet to be surprised. I believe in keeping friends close and "enemies" closer. Not watching the news is not a good thing. Watching too much news, the same. This is a marathon - how do I "train"? To live through this time - to tell about it after. Finally, I have family who have worked for USAID for many years. Africa, Ukraine, Jordan - their lives are now turned upside down and I would offer, those they have served for so many years are now in the most severe of circumstances - their lives are at stake.

USAID was a vital force in the developing world, distributing food and drugs to people in need. I recall reading somewhere that tons of grain are rotting in warehouses in Africa. This is about the haves versus the have-nots, and though we can pray that the next administration will restore sanity, some programs will be lost forever. It's almost equivalent to genocide. Maybe a fund raiser for your family? GoFundMe is a good one.

But, yes, keep on making work you believe in! xxA

Thanks Ann, this post supporting art and artists is great. I'm all in, writing postcards for Wisconsin election, protesting at Boston Common while trying to keep my sanity. Feb 28 is a great idea and my hope is that it will be repeated often. I read news and stay informed so I can react and resist as I can. I hope others will too, please don't drop out, be strong and act.

Limiting the news may be necessary for our mental health at this point. I'm pressing pause and praying for a blue tsunami in two years.
